The highly anticipated Thames Tower in Reading is edging towards completion, with construction to be completed in February 2017.
Since June 2016, the Tower has been slowly revealed to the public after being cased in scaffolding since the project began. This reached a crucial stage in November with the top of the double storey height ground floor colonnade starting to appear.
The new appearance of this transformed building fits perfectly within this high profile location opposite the recently completed Reading Crossrail Terminal. The chamfered corners are gone and the use of two types of terracotta tile – one a flat face, the other fluted – have added detail and help accentuate the height of the building.
Internally, the Cat A fit-out of the 14 floors is progressing well. The exposed surfaces help provide generous floor-to-ceiling heights of 3.1m on 1st–10th floors, 3.7m on 11th–13th floors and 4.1m on the 14th floor. These changes in volume and height, as you go up through the building, provide a varied choice for prospective tenants, ensuring that each floor isn’t the same boring ‘vanilla space’.
The Large full height windows of Thames Tower provide unrivalled panoramic, 360 degree views across the Thames Valley, ensuring tenants have large volumes of natural light throughout the day.
The office space throughout Thames Tower has been designed to provide everything that is needed for the modern commercial tenant, including the flexibility to customise everything from the design of the kitchen and communal areas to the occupation density of the workplace. Once completed Thames Tower will provide 186,745 sq ft of exciting new workspace.
