The development, managed by Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH), provides 27 bedsit rooms 27 en-suite rooms with shared kitchens, four self-contained flats, and a landscaped amenity space open to all residents. The emphasis of the client’s brief was focused on providing a homely environment which integrated seamlessly into the local community, and boasts excellent environmental and sustainability performance in use.
The design for the scheme demonstrates that a simplicity in form, massing, density, and scale can deliver a highly successful and efficient purpose-built facility which will provide support for many vulnerable members of the community. The identity and material choice of the building referenced many of the local Ashford context alongside the opportunity to present this new facility at one of the many gateways into Ashford, Surrey.
