Watford Workshop Mezzanine Opening
On Thursday 23rd January 2020 Watford Workshop’s mezzanine level was officially opened by The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss CBE DL. We are privileged to have played a part in the realisation of the mezzanine level and are proud to support a fantastic community organisation that empowers adults with disabilities to work, learn and flourish.
Having volunteered with the charity in early 2019, alongside Warner Bros. Studio Tour staff, we were keen to see how we could help make the mezzanine a reality. We put together a sketch of how we could deliver the additional office space so desperately needed for the workshop staff.
In less than a year this sketch became reality after the workshop received generous donations from the Aviva Community Fund, Betty Messenger Foundation, Warner Bros. UK and West Herts Golf Club. Working alongside Quattro Consult we put together a scheme that was then subsequently built by C. Wood & Son.
The Watford Workshop is an extraordinary organisation working to ensure every adult with a disability has the opportunity to earn a living, learn life skills and build a community. The organisation offers real work experience and skills training which help to develop members self-esteem and qualifications, improving their opportunities for mainstream employment. The organisation has been running for over fifty years and the work they do makes a huge difference for the community of Watford.
The mezzanine level will enable Watford Workshop to grow, by increasing its capacity and ensuring key staff members now have their own offices. This will, in turn, enable them to support even more local people. We’re delighted to have been, in our small way, able to support this growth. Now the workshop’s ability to deliver its program and meet demand is no longer restricted by the limitations of the building.
We’re thankful to Warner Bros. for facilitating this partnership and we would like to thank all organisations that were able to fund the mezzanine. It will make a great difference to Watford Workshop’s vibrant and welcoming community.
Congratulations to the Watford Workshop staff for working so hard to secure the funding and for creating such an inclusive, welcoming community and thank you very much for welcoming us to celebrate the opening of the mezzanine.
