With the rapid growth of BIM within the construction industry and the consequential acceleration of what might be called ‘digital construction’1 during the covid-19 pandemic, dn-a has taken a further step forward in our BIM competency and maturity through investment in construction information platforms such as Revit and Navisworks. The UK government’s construction strategy set a minimum target of Level 2 for all public sector projects alongside many private sector projects which continue to operate and deliver successfully to this level. Many projects are now designed and procured through the use of BIM and we regard this as an essential tool in the successful delivery of all future dn-a projects.

With Revit functioning as our primary architectural BIM authoring tool within the practice, the principles and requirements of BIM Level 2 are already being applied on several projects, however our aspirations are to reach full implementation according to the principles and high-level requirements within UK BIM Framework, and improve on our current BIM strategy.

To assist us with this evolution we are pleased to welcome Iaia Loppi to our team at dn-a as BIM Manager. She brings a wealth of experience, having managed the implementation of BIM into many UK architectural practices. She will be essential in leading our practice in our aspirations of designing and delivering our projects to the requirements and principles of UK BIM Framework.

“After several years working as CAD designer and CAD Manager, I have started working as a BIM Consultant. I’ve built up my expertise supporting BIM Implementation and Documentation Output covering all stages from Concept to Construction. Multiple working experiences, travelling and living in different countries, have driven me to explore new ideas. I’ve always been interested in technology and how to improve workflows towards good quality production. My vision is to learn and improve by sharing and exchanging skills and experience.

“I believe in a good work-life balance and joining dn-a as their BIM Manager is a great opportunity to build something exciting in a welcoming and motivating environment.”

“I love travelling and have visited places in nearly all of the continents. I also love films and I often combine these two hobbies by participating in film festivals as a volunteer. I’ve attended foundation film and editing courses and have been involved in Film productions.”

“I enjoy the Performing Arts in general and like to learn about and be involved in, the creative process.”

“I take regular dance classes which I find more enjoyable than a gym workout!”
